Wenn sich D-Klasse-Personal spontan entzündet, muss das Siegel des Eindämmungsschließfachs von SCP-3998 inspiziert und nach Bedarf repariert/ersetzt werden. Aus Sicherheitsgründen muss sich in Standort-34 D-Klasse-Personal befinden, insbesondere jenes, das wegen Mordes ersten Grades und häuslicher Gewalt verurteilt wurde.

Wenn sich herausstellt, dass Mitarbeiter von SCP-3998 angegriffen wurden, sind sie zu untersuchen und dann zu behandeln.

Beschreibung: SCP-3998 ist eine menschliche Leiche, die im späten 17. Jahrhundert starb. SCP-3998 fehlen die Beine und es ist mit ausgedehnten Verbrennungen vierten Grades übersät. Irgendwann nach seinem Tod wurden die Überreste von SCP-3998 eingesammelt und zu einer Vogelscheuche geformt, die von Weiden, Nägeln und Draht zusammengehalten wurde. Neben seinen schweren Verbrennungen scheint SCP-3998 ein stumpfes Gewalttrauma in mehreren Regionen seines Körpers erlitten zu haben; es ist unklar, ob SCP-3998 an einer der Ursachen oder an beiden gestorben ist (siehe Untersuchung-3998-6).

Das Objekt sondert ständig eine brennbare Flüssigkeit aus seinen Knochen ab, die hauptsächlich aus Ethanol und menschlichem Fett besteht. Jede Nacht zwischen 23:00 und 4:00 Uhr entzündet sich SCP-3998 und geht in Flammen auf. Obwohl SCP-3998 hochentzündlich ist, erleidet es jedoch keine strukturellen Schäden. Wenn SCP-3998 brennt und wenn es nicht richtig eingedämmt wird, entzündet sich auch die nächste Person, die bestimmte Kriterien erfüllt, spontan.

SCP-3998 zielt auf diejenigen ab, die getötet haben1 oder einen Partner, mit dem sie eine romantische Beziehung hatten, körperlich misshandelt haben. Wenn SCP-3998 nicht in der Lage ist, sich selbst zu entzünden, kann SCP-3998 keine Ziele entzünden. Stattdessen entwickeln diejenigen, die angegriffen worden wären, nur kurze, leichte Schmerzen entweder in der Brust oder im Hinterkopf.

Wenn die Ziele weiterbrennen können, erscheinen große Mengen kochendes Ethanol in ihrem Magen. Dieser große Alkoholzufluss führt typischerweise zu Erbrechen, das weitere äußere Verbrennungen verursacht und oft zu dauerhaften Nerven- und Organschäden führt, wenn sie die anfängliche Verbrennung überleben.

Irgendwann beginnt ihr Körperfett, besonders in der Rumpf-/Bauchregion, zu schmelzen. Der Prozess ist extrem schnell und verursacht oft schwere innere Schäden, wenn das Ziel erfolgreich gelöscht wird, bevor es an Verbrennungen 4. Grades stirbt.

Wenn es weiterbrennt, führt die Kombination aus geschmolzenem Fett und Ethanol dazu, dass der Magen heftig platzt und das Opfer dabei oft halbiert wird. Diejenigen, die von SCP-3998 betroffen sind, können nicht gelöscht werden, bis SCP-3998 selbst ebenfalls gelöscht ist.

Das Folgende ist eine teilweise Reihe von Dokumenten und Materialien, die sich auf SCP-3998 beziehen, und zugehörige Korrespondenzen und Artikel, die auf dem Grundstück entdeckt wurden, auf dem SCP-3998 ursprünglich gefunden wurde.

Diese Dokumente können nur von Mitarbeitern mit spezieller 3998-Freigabe, dem aktuellen Standort-34-Administrator und Personen mit O5-Designierung eingesehen werden.

Anhang-3998-2: Nachdem SCP-3998 eingedämmt wurde, gab es einen deutlichen Anstieg der Zahl der Morde pro Tag in Massachusetts von 0,32 auf 0,48. Ein großer Teil dieser Todesfälle sind Brandstiftungen, und die Opfer sind bekannte Täter von Gewaltverbrechen. Die Opfer scheinen mit umfangreichen Verbrennungen 4. Grades bedeckt zu sein und sind von der Brust bis zum Becken ausgeweidet.

Informationen über diese Morde konnten nicht zurückgehalten werden, da die Leichen in der Öffentlichkeit entdeckt und der "Weidenhexe" zugeschrieben wurden. Die Öffentlichkeit wurde zu der Annahme verleitet, dass der Täter dieser Morde ein Serienmörder ist, der sich von der Weidenhexe-Legende inspirieren lässt, dass die Weidenhexe fiktiv ist und dass in Salem keine Hexenverbrennungen stattgefunden haben. Einstufung in Euclid bis zur Festnahme und Eindämmung der verantwortlichen Person.
